Dementia-Friendly Singalongs

Our dementia-friendly singalongs are carefully crafted to connect people with memories and emotions.

If you are caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, please try our free online library of singalong songs and shows. Singing together can create new moments of joy and connection for you and your loved one.

We start by selecting positive, uplifting, and familiar songs. Then we create recordings, usually featuring piano and a strong melody line. Most of our songs are recorded in lower keys than originals, making them easier for older ears to hear and older voices to sing. Then we add an engaging singalong leader, easy-to-read lyrics, and strong visual clues.

Residents at memory care facilities often share with us how they connect with music during our in-person dementia-friendly singalongs. Mary said the music made her remember when she was a little girl singing with her mother. Carol told us she knows all the songs because she played the piano while her husband sang. Norman said “all of the songs make me happy.” Pat told us: “You gave us a connection we haven’t had in so long.”

Our singalongs program is supported by individual donors and a grant provided by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). Our first community singalong, funded by a grant provided by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), will be held on Wednesday, September 21, in Grapevine, Texas. Please contact us for details.
